How many of us think of going completely the opposite direction and trying out something new to use to clean our homes? Well, probably not many.
However, with new products being displayed to our faces each day, it is hard to resist the urge to do so. There are many companies out there that are trying to reinvent the wheel as far as cleaning products go. This is Blueland in a nutshell.
Their mission is to make great cleaning products, but reduce waste as much as possible. Now, this isn’t anything new, but the way Blueland does it seems very special.
For one, all of their products seem very well-made and exquisite, something that you would look forward to using, instead of dreading the cleaning chores. In any case, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home in order to get some cleaning products for your cabinet. All can be done online, and you can even get refills each month by subscribing to their service!

Why Blueland Cleaning Products?

To start this off, it is a change.
Going from regular mass-produced cleaning products to something like Blueland is quite exhilarating. The feeling you get is much different, it is as though there has been more time put into the products, and not creating so much waste is a plus.
Okay, but how does it work, what’s the catch?
Well, you can either buy your products online from Blueland one-time purchase, or a subscription. Basically, you get some of their refillable bottles, and then use water to dissolve the tablets that are essentially the cleaning product.
If a consumer subscribes, they can choose how frequent their refills to be, from each month, all the way up to every four months. After using up all of the product, simply wash the bottle, and dissolve another tablet inside.
Generally, you know they mean business by how many cleaning products they have, and focus on. Here are some of Blueland’s products:
- Glass & Mirror refill packs
- Bathroom Cleaner refill packs
- Multi-surface Cleaner refill packs
- Dishwasher refill packs
- Dish Soap refill packs
- Laundry refill packs
- And of course, beautiful bottles for all those refill packs.
The most common thing that most people worry about with direct-to-consumer brands like these is whether the products work as good as they’re advertised, or as good as something you can buy at the store, which is the main deal-breaker for people.
So, how does something like Blueland compare in quality to regular store-bought cleaners?
Blueland VS Store-Bought Cleaners Review

Everything about Blueland seems more appealing. The packaging, the methods used, the fact that it reduces waste, the beautifully designed bottles, and so much more.
But what purpose would it serve if it hasn’t got the same effectiveness as chemicals you would buy at the store?
Thankfully, it is not too good to be true, and Blueland exceeds many expectations. For one, you will get the same cleaning power as you would with something from the store, for things like glass, bathroom, surfaces, and more.
On top of that, while it may not have a lot of scent choices, most of them are more than good.
Granted, some will be disliked by many, as it shows on their feedback page, but all in all, it will leave your home smelling much fresher than before. Furthermore, there is a big factor to consider when talking store-bought against Blueland products.
That is, how much harmful substances are in both. There are some products at the store with no harmful substances, but on average, most are heavy with VOCs, chlorine bleach, triclosan, ammonia, and more. With Blueland? Zero.
Blueland is certified Platinum Material Health by many organizations such as: Cradle to Cradle, EPA Safer Choice, USDA BioPreferred, and Leaping Bunny.
Not sure, but I’m guessing that some will opt-in for a much safer and not chemical-heavy home, and lose a bit of cleaning power. The loss isn’t anything substantial though.
Are Blueland Cleaning Products For Everyone?

Well, this is a bit tricky to answer. In terms of how well the product cleans and its practicality and effectiveness, I would say, yes, it is for everyone.
However, if you’re someone who is constantly doing something around the house, and need to clean on a daily basis, it might be tough in terms of getting the product to your door. With store cleaning products, one could easily jump in the car just to get a few bottles of all-purpose cleaner. With Blueland that’s impossible, since you can only get it online.
Stockpiling is an option, but it is just too big of a hassle.
Nevertheless, at least there is a possibility to subscribe for refills each month. Not just that, but the subscription can be customized in a way to suit your needs. So, we really don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be for everyone.
The process of dissolving the tablet in warm water doesn’t take long, which shouldn’t be that much of a deal-breaker for people. You really do get an exceptional product if you choose to Blueland as your main cleaning products supplier.
Blueland Cleaning Products : Pros & Cons
Although everything leans towards the positive side with Blueland, there are also some downsides that need to be taken into consideration.
Be warned though, there aren’t many. Blueland has been a popular choice for many, and many have gotten so used to the style, the products, the branding, and ultimately, the main keyword – lifestyle. The point is that, Blueland have changed over the years, but towards the positive.
They’re much more reputable now, with millions of customers under their belt.
In any case, let’s get down to business. What we found is interesting. Here are the pros and cons to using Blueland:
PROS
- Great packaging
- Reduce waste as much as possible
- Much less potent than store-bought products
- Reusable bottles
- Easy storage
- Some great scents
- Non-toxic cleaning products
- Looks cool
CONS
- Expensive
- Free Shipping on orders over $35, which is great, but most bundles come in just a couple of dollars shy of that number
- Not all products are great
- Only bought online
Blueland’s All Cleaning Products Reviewed
We briefly touched upon that not all of Blueland’s products are liked by many. Some are just with bad scents, and some are very off. In order to make it as clear as possible, we took it upon ourselves to talk a bit about each product from their lineup.
Keep in mind that there will be subjective views about the scents here, but we’ll try our best to be as objective as possible.
Blueland Multi-Surface Cleaner Review

Now, this is one of their best products, and what we were most surprised by is its effectiveness. It really rivals with some of the strongest and most potent multi-surface cleaners out there, without smelling like a full-blown chemical.
It sufficiently removes streaks as well, but you may need to do one or two passes more that you would.
Blueland Bathroom Cleaner Review

The same goes for the Blueland bathroom cleaner.
One big downside with this cleaner was the fact that it was quite chemical heavy in terms of its scent. It supposed to smell like Eucalyptus Mint, but unfortunately, we didn’t get that fresh mint smell. It smelled particularly heavy, like a regular cleaner would.
The smell didn’t last for long, but there is a slight chance that it will work much better for bigger bathrooms, as the small ones tend to fill up with its smell.
Blueland Glass + Mirror Cleaner Review

Most people use vinegar to clean their mirrors or glass, but how does the mirror and glass cleaner from Blueland compare to that?
Well, interestingly enough, it does the job quite well, with no scent whatsoever. This cleaner is scentless, and that’s a plus. It might leave some streaks if you’re using a harsher towel, but with a microfiber one, it works exceptional. Big A-plus here.
BlueLand Dish Soap Review

The dish soap from Blueland is a powder soap instead of a liquid, and you do get an interesting refillable bottle for it. It is impressive how good it is, but if you’re used to doing a cold wash for your dishes, it does tend to not remove heavy stains.
It needs a bit of help from warm water which is fine, as many people are more used to that. It smells fresh and won’t make your dishes smell a lot.
Dishwasher Tablets Review

Dishwasher Tablets are not that special. They might remove all of the stains on the dishes very thoroughly, but even though they’re odorless, i.e. fragrance-free, they do not feel that way for some reason. However, they might be good for many, but we felt as though they didn’t smell fresh after leaving the dishwasher.
Other Products

There are two more products, the regular Hand Soap, and the laundry tablets. The laundry tablets aren’t as strong as those you would find at the store, but interestingly enough, they do the job quite well. And bonus points for the packaging.
As for the hand soap, it is quite good, and does give you that moisturized feeling that some other soaps with oils do.
The Verdict: Should You Go with Blueland Cleaning Supplies?
Funnily enough, we though that it wouldn’t make financially sense to go with Blueland, but it seems like it actually does.
Because you’re using the refillable bottles, you don’t need to pay the extra which you pay for the plastic at the stores. Meaning, if it were only the cleaning product inside, all the cleaning essentials will be much cheaper everywhere, but that is the case with Blueland.
Plus, the fact that you can customize and get your essentials how frequent you want further adds to the positives. Some products you should still get from the store, but all in all, great choice for cleaning essentials!
So, should you try Blueland? Absolutely.
