Indochino Review

Indochino Suits

Indochino was founded in 2007 by Kyle Vucko and Heikal Gani in Vancouver, Canada. Kyle and Heikal’s idea was that people don’t have to spend a fortune to have custom clothes. The direct-to-consumer (D2C) business model allowed them to bring the premium made-to-measure experience to customers at affordable prices (just like the one you would pay for a regular off-the-rack suit).

Shopping with Indochino is personal, customized, and tailored, and that’s what sets them apart. On their website, you step into the shoes of a designer and tailor to create your perfect piece of clothing.

There are so many personalization options, including lapels, pockets, buttons, linings, and monograms. Even though most of the customers order and tailor their suits online, Indochino has over 50 showrooms across the US therefore you can always visit one of those to get measured by pros.

PROS

  • Excellent Quality-Price-Ratio
  • Tailored suits
  • Multiple customization options available
  • Free shipping
  • International shipping
  • Multiple showrooms across the US
  • Excellent customer reviews

CONS

  • Not a lot of fabric selections

Bonobos Review

Bonobos was founded in 2007 by Andy Dunn and his main idea is to provide clothes for men that fit. Bonobos offers various clothing options such as pants, jeans, swim trunks, shirts, golf wear, and more. You can create your Fit Profile on their website and make shopping even easier. Also, you can get advice from pros who will help you pick the matching colors or explain why you shouldn’t wear that shirt on your first day at work.

This incredibly successful start-up is currently owned by Walmart.

PROS

  • Huge variety of clothing
  • Incredible off-the-rack sizing options
  • High-quality suits made with a material sourced in Italy
  • Free shipping
  • Free returns
  • International shipping

CONS

  • There are some complaints regarding Bonobos customer service

Indochino Suits

How it works

If you want to get a custom-made suit on Indochino.com, here’s how it works.
First, pick your ideal suit from a wide range of jackets, shirts, pants, and accessories. On their website, you can see new updates every week, so you’ll never run out of ideas and options.

Then, it’s customization time. You get to choose many customization features such as 40-character monogramming, collar felts, and linings.

Last but not least, get measured online. Now, I know that this sounds complicated but the guys at Indochino really did a good job simplifying the entire process by making step-by-step videos.

All you need is measurement tape and someone to help you. In about 10 minutes you’ll have all the measures you need. Don’t worry, tailors at Indochino will double-check all the measures just to make sure you got it right.

Let’s have a look at some of the most popular Indochino suits.

Harrogate Midnight Blue Suit

This luxurious wool suit is blended with cashmere to heighten its sophistication. Besides being tailored to you and only you, this suit is made of top-quality components and excellent construction. The suit jacket is half-canvassed for greater versatility and it features fully canvassed lapels, bullhorn buttons, high-quality collar felt, and lightweight shoulder pads.

Howell Wool Stretch Blue Suit

This luxury suit is designed to keep up with your superfast lifestyle. Wool and spandex are combined with sustainable nanomaterial technology allowing you to toss this suit into your luggage and get it out the next day, wrinkle-free.

The jacket is available in half-canvas for superior fit and it features fully canvassed lapels, lightweight shoulder pads, and high-quality collar felt.

Bonobos Suits

As I mentioned, Bonobos offers various clothing options for men. Basically, anything you need, for any occasion, you’ll find it there.

Even though Bonobos doesn’t offer custom-made suits, since they’re more a clothing store than a tailor shop, they offer an incredible range of suits and blazers that will fit you perfectly. The suits and blazers are divided into a few categories for easier navigation – Suits, Blazers & Sport, Coats, Tuxedos, Groomshop, and Guest Attire.

Premium 120s Italian Wool Suit

This is one of Bonobos’s finest suits yet. Made with 120s Italian Wool and natural stretch, it features lovely details from lapels, real horn buttons, and double welt pockets, to cuffs.

The suit is available in 3 colors – Navy, Charcoal, and Mid Blue. When shopping for this suit you have to specify the fit and size for both the blazer and pants. Speaking of blazers, you can choose whether you prefer a Slim, Athletic, or Standard fit. Next, pick the right size – there are 13 sizes available (from 36S/36R to 46R). If you’re not sure, you can find a handy size guide right next to the size options.

Wool suit pants are available in 11 sizes (28-40) and you can pick whether you prefer Slim Taper, Tailored, Slim, or Athletic fit.

Italian Knit Blazer

Made with knit cotton that is sourced in Italy this knit blazer is perfect for all four seasons. Available in 4 colors – Charcoal, Navy, Light Grey, and Medium Grey, it features flap pockets, 2 single-breasted buttons, a double vent, interior pockets, and a locker loop.

The blazer is available in 14 sizes (36S to 46L) and you can choose the fit as well – Slim, Athletic, or Standard.

Jetsetter Stretch Wool Suit

This incredibly versatile suit is made from 97% wool and 3% stretch. It’s perfectly constructed and designed to follow every step you make. It comes in 9 colors and the jacket is available in 17 sizes (wow!) When picking your ideal jacket you can choose one of the fit options – Tailored, Slim, Athletic, and Standard.

Speaking of wool, stretchy pants, they are available in 13 sizes and when it comes to fit, 5 different options are available – Slip Taper, Tailored, Slim, Athletic, and Standard.

Head to Head – Indochino vs Bonobos

Indochino offers custom-made suits at off-the-rack prices and that’s their thing. They are doing a great job and the suits are made from high-quality materials. There’s no way you can find a decent tailored suit for $400-500. Also, the online measurement feature is so handy, and the step-by-step videos on how to measure are great!

There’s no way Bonobos can match tailored suits, but on the other hand, they do offer an incredible range of suits, blazers, and tuxedos. They also have an impressive range of sizes, fits, and colors. It’s like you’re customizing your suit. On top of that, let’s not forget that Bonobos specializes in men’s clothing overall, not just suits.

The Verdict

I think I will split the points here. If you’re looking for a high-quality custom-made suit, go for Indochino. There’s no way Bonobos can match the main idea behind Indochino. However, I would suggest visiting one of the showrooms and letting the pros do the measuring otherwise you might end up with a suit that doesn’t fit and you can’t get a refund or an exchange since it’s a custom-made suit.

Also, bear in mind that it takes a couple of weeks to get the suit since it’s custom-made. According to Indochino, a the moment, due to global supply chain delays, delivery times have temporarily increased to 4-6 weeks.

On the other hand, if you need ANYTHING in terms of men’s clothing, Bonobos is the right choice for you. They don’t have the custom-made option but the sizing options are quite impressive. And not just that. Besides 14+ size options, you can choose the fit of your clothes according to your body type. Another advantage is that you can return the items if you’re not happy and get a full refund or an exchange.
