A Bit Of Background Theragun & Hypervolt

Thanks to Jason Werseland, a Los Angeles chiropractor, the massage gun was invented. An incredible piece of modern technology that helps athletes feel relief after a workout. Since then, different types and brands of massage guns were introduced into the world, two of which we will be focusing on.
Hypervolt Go by Hyperice is one of two of the massage guns featured here. Hyperice is no stranger to the business, having been founded by Anthony Katz back in 2010. Since its foundation, Hyperice has partnered with athletes such as Naomi Osaka, Patrick Mahomes, Erling Haaland, Ja Morant and many more.
The other focus is Theragun Mini by Therabody. Therabody has a seniority advantage to Hyperice, being founded in 2008 none other than Jason Werseland, the inventor of the massage gun.
So not only is Therabody in the business longer than Hyperice, the actual inventor is the founder as well.
Notable partnered athletes with Therabody are big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Maria Sharapova, James Harden, DeAndre Hopkins and more.
Table Comparison – Hypervolt Go & Theragun Mini
Keep in mind that the Hypervolt Go and Theragun Mini are the compact and portable versions of the Hypervolt and Theragun, meaning that they can do whatever the Hypervolt 2 and Theragun Prime can do but on a smaller scale.
With that said, let’s compare the two massage guns and see the difference:

Benefits Of Hypervolt Go & Theragun Mini

Before moving on to what each individual massage gun offers, let’s start off with what a massage gun can benefit you.
Like I said before, a massage gun is used to alleviate tension in the muscles after a hard workout to avoid feeling sore and stiff after. It increases the blood and lymphatic circulation, allowing more oxygen and nutrients to reach the muscles, releases lactic acid build up which can happen from intense workouts and breaks up scar tissue to alleviate pain.
It’s not just strictly for after workouts, as you can use a massage gun to improve your overall wellness, as using a massage gun can create more flexible joints to avoid strains and sprains, and can also be used to improve sleep and reduce anxiety.
The massage gun is sought out by so many athletes over the world, so people have created their own versions of the massage gun in order to cash in on that business.
Hypervolt Go Review

The Hypervolt Go offers a 10mm amplitude to anyone thinking of purchasing one.
Now, a 10mm is pretty good, but it’s not as good as a 12mm. The thing about 10mm is that it doesn’t hit deep into your muscles, giving your muscles a percussive type of massage. The Hypervolt Go can only do surface level relief, relaxing your muscles while increasing blood flow.
The stall force of a Hypervolt Go is only 15 lbs. This makes sense as the Hypervolt Go is designed to be a more compact and portable version of the bigger massage gun the Hyperice offers.
The Hypervolt Go won’t really do much compared to the other more expensive options when doing weight lifting or intense exercises, but it can alleviate tensions after a long walk or jog.
The Hypervolt Go offers a 2400 to 3200 ppm speed, going up to 3 levels. The speed is primarily the biggest selling point of the Hypervolt Go, which makes sense as the stall force and stroke length were sacrificed in order for the Hypervolt Go to be faster.
The battery life is up to 2.5 hours only, which is smaller compared to other massage guns that can go up to 8 hours, but it’s not like you’ll be using the Hypervolt Go for 2.5 hours straight, anyway.
Massage guns are pretty loud due to the mechanisms and vibrations. The Hypervolt Go’s noise only goes up to 55 dB, making it a great silent massage gun if you don’t want to get too irritated with the noise.
The Hypervolt Go, however, offers two different attachments once purchased. Same with Theragun Mini, you can order more attachments from their website.
Unfortunately, if you’re looking for more color other than black, the Hypervolt Go does not have alternate color options, leaving you stuck with the standard black color.
The Hypervolt Go is great, but if you’re in a hurry to get a massage gun and would rather not read a lot, here’s the pros and cons:
PROS
- Great value
- Two attachments available
- Fast speed
- Less noise
CONS
- Not suitable for those doing intense exercises
- Only one color available
Theragun Mini Review

The difference between the Theragun Mini and the Hypervolt Go is that the Theragun Mini can be used after intense workouts thanks to it’s 12mm amplitude. The difference between 2mm’s is huge for massage guns. As stated before, a 12mm can be used for a percussive massage, one that can go deeper that the surface level of your body.
Another big difference between the two is the Theragun Mini’s stall force, which is 20 lbs. Unlike the Hypervolt Go, the Theragun Mini can be used when doing intense workouts like weightlifting, as the 5 lbs difference can hit harder than the 15, allowing for more tension in the muscle to be relieved.
Sadly, where the Hypervolt Go shines, the Theragun Mini falls short, as the speed goes 1750 to 2400 ppm with 3 levels. Which in a way, makes sense due to the fact that the Theragun Mini is a bit bigger and heavier than the Hypervolt Go.
Same as the Hypervolt Go, the Theragun Mini can go up to 2.5 hours. The Theragun Mini is noticeably louder than the Hypervolt Go, sporting a 65 dB. Though it’s only a difference of 10, it is still loud.
Theragun Mini has three colors available. Black, red, and white. The massage gun only comes with the standard ball attachment, but you can order more attachments from their website.
With that said, here are the pros and cons:
PROS
- 12mm amplitude for better stoke length
- Stronger stall force
- More colors available
- Suitable for intense workouts
CONS
- Only one attachment
- Slower speed
Head-To-Head Comparison
If you’re still unsure which massage gun to get, the next part will help give you an idea on what you’re looking for.
Hypervolt Go VS Theragun Mini – Which Massage Gun Is Better?

Both massage guns are compact and portable, yet one is considerably weaker than the other. If you’re looking for something to alleviate the stress on your body after a hard day at work, the Hypervolt Go is what you’re looking for as it focuses on relaxation than actual massage.
The Theragun Mini is a good massage gun if you want to alleviate tension within your muscles after a workout at the gym.
Once you do feel better, you can head straight home and use the Theragun Prime, or the more advanced models, to finish the work of the Theragun Mini.
It honestly all depends on what you’ll be using it for, because both massage guns are both helpful in relieving stress. It just depends if you want something for after work, or after workout.
The Verdict: Massage Guns From Therabody & Hyperice
