If your teeth are starting to look less pearly, it appears as though there are some great options to whiten your teeth on the market. Back in the day, it was hard to do so, and in some cases, inconvenient.
But nowadays, with brands like HiSmile, Laughland, and Smile Direct Club, it couldn’t be easier.
These three offer LED lighting whitening treatments. And these couldn’t be any more convenient. Instead of running to your local dental office, people can now whiten their teeth, all from the comfort of their own home.
But are these just a gimmick, or are they serious tools that pack a punch? Well, it seems as though it is the latter rather than the former, based on all the positive reviews. But which one to choose? Read on to find out which is best from HiSmile, Laughland, and Smile Direct Club, and see the in-depth comparison of the three below!

LED Whitening Treatments VS Conventional Treatments – HiSmile, Laughland & Smile Direct Club
The biggest selling point of LED whitening treatments is convenience. Compared to traditional treatments like strips, doctor treatments, and others, using any of your HiSmile, Laughland, or Smile Direct Club’s kit is far more convenient, and in most cases more cost-effective.
Crest strips are by-far the most popular way to brighten up those pearly whites, but a lot of people do experience some minor side effects.
LED whitening kits are similar, in a way that they both use bleaching agents to polish your teeth. But there is a big catch with the treatments offered by these three brands. With the LED lights, the agent gets activated, and because of that, you get far better results.
Often time, this even improves and mitigates the side effects which are otherwise present.

The biggest difference which might be crucial is the daily treatment duration. As seen, for the three companies it is different, but there is a simple explanation for this.
The potency of the gel used in your LED treatment kit will be different with each brand, and in some cases, it will be tailored to your needs and worries. For example, if you have more sensitive teeth, it will be tweaked so that it doesn’t cause you any inconvenience.
Smile Direct Club might seem as though it is the most affordable one in the list, but unlike the others, it has multiple packages to choose from, so the prices vary.
To me HiSmile is the most appealing, and it is mainly due to the fact that it comes with an included battery, and it doesn’t have to be hooked up to a smartphone adapter.
You simply hook up the battery, turn it on, and you’re good to go.
This is great if you’re on the go and want to finish up some chores around the house while your pearly whites get a proper whitening. And all things considered, HiSmile is pretty much very affordable considering how reputable the brand actually is.
Pens are available with HiSmile, which can be used as an additional way to do some touchups between the treatments. 10 minutes is recommended daily, but some even use it less than that. However, one thing which you should consider is that there is no money-back guarantee if your teeth aren’t at least two shades whiter. So, stick to the recommended time frame given by HiSmile.
In addition, compared to the other two, the shopping experience is seamless. You do have to find your way a bit to order from the other two, while with HiSmile, it is as simple as making a few clicks.
You can also subscribe to get regular gel refills, or buy them consecutively.
All things considered, should you go for HiSmile. It is a great choice, but in order to find out if it is for you, kindly take a look at the pros and cons:
- Very convenient
- Pens available
- Seamless shopping experience
- Subscription available
- Not as cost-effective as others
Laughland is quite impressive. In this comparison, it is the most personalized option available.
The way it works is this: you start off by answering questions like do you floss, what type of toothpaste do you use, dieting, cavities, whether your teeth are sensitive, and so much more. Based on that, you get a personalized formula and treatment plan which is tailored for your teeth. Pretty amazing.
This is a great way to mitigate any minor inconveniences that are otherwise caused by LED whitening kits, like ultra-sensitive teeth after treatment.
Furthermore, this might be the reason why Laughland is such a good idea for those that usually have much more sensitive teeth. How much the formula changes with this process is unclear, but it is still hands down, the most customizable one in the list.
It is similar to going to your dentist for a personalized treatment plan.
There are no pens available with Laughland, and the kit does have to be connected to an adapter, but all things considered, a great product and experience! Plus, there is a subscription available for your refills, and it is pretty flexible to your needs.

So, Laughland seems like a great option, especially if you have sensitive teeth. If you go with Laughland though, what are the pros and cons? Here’s a list:
- Most personalized
- Great for sensitive teeth
- Subscription available
- Shopping experience is quirky and fun
- Only five minutes daily is needed
- No pens available
Smile Direct Club Review
Smile Direct Club is by far the most reputable brand in this list, but also one which specializes in other products like invisible bracers as well. And it is good to see that the quality from their other products transfers over to their whitening kit as well. (kbeautypharm)
Now, there are multiple types of kits available with Smile Direct Club, but all things considered, it is the better value compared to the other two.
What I, and I suspect many out there love about the Smile Direct Club kit is the fact that there are gel pens instead of the ordinary syringes. So, the gel is applied directly to your teeth, instead of being put inside of the mouth-guard.
This also makes it so that the application isn’t as messy as HiSmile or Laughland, but it also makes it so that you don’t miss any spots on your teeth.
So, the biggest things you’re getting with Smile Direct Club is more flexibility on what your package includes, and a more efficient way of application of your gel.
But there are some pros and cons that need to be taken into account. If you choose Smile Direct Club, these are the pros and cons you should consider:
- Gel applied directly to teeth
- Best value
- Great quality
- No refill subscription
We’ve already covered most of the crucial aspects of each brand, so to dig a bit further, we put them head-to-head to compare them against each other.
This way, if you’re already in a dilemma between any two brands, you can see which one is more tailored for you. Each matchup will be covered below.
Which Is Better? – HiSmile VS Laughland
HiSmile does take some points on the board for offering a design that doesn’t need to be plugged in anywhere, while the kit does its magic. But is this really something which will be a dealbreaker for Laughland.
Well, I think not. Already, if you’re ready to make the commitment, whether you’re on the move and not connected your kit with a cable, or you’re sitting down connected to a mobile adapter, it is still a small portion of the day.
The point is, there is a chance that you will be sitting down while doing your treatment, and if that’s the case, why not get something more personalized with a seamless shopping experience like Laughland.
It does appear to be better in most ways.
HiSmile or Smile Direct Club?
Between these two giants, it is much harder to distinguish which is better.
It all boils down to what you’re looking for. For example, for me HiSmile is the clear victor, only because I can work and finish some chores while I do the HiSmile treatment.
But for some, that doesn’t really matter, and considering the ease of application with Smile Direct Club, it might make more sense to go with that. But keep in mind that Smile Direct Club doesn’t offer a subscription for refills, so you must buy your supplies separately.
If you want to put your gel refills on autopilot though, then the only option between the two is HiSmile.
What Is For You? – Laughland VS Smile Direct Club
Unfortunately, while we did approve of Smile Direct Club’s effort for offering other teeth hygiene and care supplies, compared to Laughland for whitening kits, it really does fall behind.
Sure, the ability to use a pen and directly apply the gel to your teeth is a plus, but with all things considered, teeth whitening is still a hassle, and you might be better off with getting something that’s targeted for your teeth type rather than convenience.
With that said, Laugland has a more complete, and better overall experience.
The Verdict: Best Teeth Whitening Kits – HiSmile VS Laughland VS Smile Direct Club
Not many believe that these so-called LED whitening kits work, and I confess, I was in the same club. But upon trying each of them, and looking at some constructive criticism and feedback, it is good to see that they’re the real deal.
Whatever the case may be, there is one for everyone and not all will work for you.
For now, it seems like the best option is Laughland, hands down. This is mostly due to the fact of how personalized your teeth whitening experience will be. At the moment, the other two aren’t really personalized, and what you see is what you get.
